West Haldimand General Hospital’s (WHGH) COVID, Cold and Flu Care Clinic (CCFCC) will permanently close on Friday, June 30, 2023. The decision to close this temporary clinic was predicated by the decreased prevalence of COVID-19 across the region, leading to a decrease in the number of appointments.
COVID-19 testing will be available at select pharmacies across the region, and the prescription drug Paxlovid will continue to be available through family physicians and at select pharmacies.
“A sincere thank you to our staff, physicians, nurses, and community partners who supported this vital service for our community over the past three years,” said Dr. Robin Martin-Godelie, Chief of Staff. “The COVID-19 Assessment Centre and the CCFCC were a critical resource for patients and an essential alternative to our Emergency Department since the onset of the pandemic.”
WHGH’s first COVID-19 Assessment Centre opened on March 16, 2020, before expanding its services as a CCFCC in December of 2022 to provide assessments of both adult and paediatric patients for influenza-like illness.
WHGH is thankful to the COVID-19 Assessment Centre and CCFCC team for providing COVID-19 tests to the community throughout all six waves of the pandemic and beyond.
