Auxiliary/Volunteers

West Haldimand General Hospital Auxiliary was founded in 1963, one year before the hospital opened. Auxilians are a group of Volunteers that help raise funds for the hospital.

Our Auxilians are very active within our Hospital, from our group of sewers/knitters/quilters, to fundraisers through smorgasbords, raffle draws, cookie walks, and card parties hosted monthly.

Our Café & Gift shop is located in the main lobby which offers a variety of items for sale such as clothes, books, handmade quilts, aprons, purses, scarves, jewelry and more. We also prepare and sell sandwiches, soups, and muffins. Profits from these sales are used for purchasing items for the hospital.

Van Houtte coffee and a variety of teas are also available.

Our Café & Gift Shop are open Monday –Friday 9:00-4:00; Saturday 9:00-12:30; They are closed Sundays.

Our Elder Life Program is a rewarding program: Volunteers can assist our patients at mealtimes, participate in one on one activities, read and have friendly conversations.

Auxilian/Volunteer
We have many opportunities for volunteers of all ages. In addition to providing Volunteer hours in one of our services, there are many opportunities to help such as fundraising activities, serve in our gift/coffee shop, Information Desk, greeter positions, Elder Life Program, sewing, gardening much more.

How to Become a Volunteer

In order to become a volunteer of the auxiliary, complete the application form and the other required forms and then forward the forms by mail or in-person to:
