WHGH to complete planned power shutdowns beginning May 28
Hagersville – West Haldimand General Hospital (WHGH) will undergo a planned power shutdown on Thursday, May 28, 2026, from 7:30 a.m. to approximately 4:00 p.m. This shutdown is part of important electrical infrastructure upgrades taking place at the hospital.
While patients and visitors may notice temporary impacts and delays during the shutdown, extensive planning has been completed to help ensure patient care and safety remain the hospital’s top priority.
This is the first of six planned shutdowns scheduled between May and August.
Key services, including the Emergency Department, inpatient unit, and pharmacy services, will remain operational during the shutdown to help ensure continuity of care for patients. However, LifeLabs, Physiotherapy, and Audiology services will be closed for the day.
The Haldimand Family Health Team Health Care Centre will not be impacted by the outage. However, Ambulatory Care at the Health Care Centre will not have internet access during the shutdown.
The WHGH Cafeteria will remain open during the shutdown. The Volunteer Coffee Shop will be closed for the day.
Temporary lighting will be in place throughout the hospital, and one of the hospital’s main elevators will remain operational during the shutdown.
Teams across WHGH will remain focused on providing safe, high-quality care to patients and families throughout the outage. The Emergency Department will remain open for emergencies.
