West Haldimand General Hospital seeks community leaders to join its Board of Directors

(HAGERSVILLE) – Have you ever wanted to make a real impact in your community? Now is your chance. West Haldimand General Hospital (WHGH) is looking for three passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors.

As a board member, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of local healthcare, ensuring high-quality, accessible care for those who rely on our hospital. This is more than just a volunteer role—it’s an opportunity to be part of something meaningful, helping to guide the hospital’s strategic direction and make a lasting difference.

“We are seeking passionate, community-minded individuals to join our Board of Directors to help shape the future of healthcare in Haldimand County and surrounding areas. With our newly developed strategic plan, we are committed to realizing our vision: ‘to foster healthier communities through exceptional rural health care, close to home.’  Our board is a dynamic team of leaders working together to ensure accessible, high-quality healthcare for our community” remarked Haley McIntosh, Chair of the West Haldimand General Hospital Board of Directors.

As a highly skilled-based Board, we are seeking to fill three (3) vacancies with interested individuals who:

  • Embrace our core values: Person-Centred, Collaborative, Inclusive, Respectful, Innovative and Accountable
  • Are eager to support and advance the mission and values of WHGH.
  • Are enthusiastic about championing our vision and strategic objectives.
  • Can commit to the time needed for Board and committee roles, with the Board convening around nine times annually.
  • Aim to boost our public profile by actively sharing our mission and achievements, and by helping to forge strong community partnerships.
  • Adhere to board policies, especially those concerning conflict of interest and confidentiality.

We welcome applicants from all backgrounds, especially those with experience in business management, risk management, board governance or legal expertise, though it’s not mandatory. Our board values diverse perspectives and skills to guide our healthcare decisions effectively.

While maintaining a skills-based Board is our priority, WHGH also strives for the composition of the Board to reflect the diversity of the communities served. Specifically, to address current needs, we are seeking representation from indigenous communities and newcomers to the community.
