West Haldimand General Hospital recognizes contributions of physicians on National Physicians’ Day

Monday, May 1, 2023

West Haldimand General Hospital (WHGH) is expressing appreciation and recognition of all of our physicians and those in the community this National Physicians’ Day on Monday, May 1.

This has been another extraordinary year with unprecedented pressures and despite these challenges, our dedicated physicians and those serving in our community continue to step up to the plate and provide patient-centered and compassionate care.

At WHGH, we appreciate their commitment to extraordinary caring and the many personal sacrifices made to help keep our community safe.

“We are incredibly grateful to the dedicated team of physicians at West Haldimand General Hospital, and in the community for the high standard of care they provide patients every day,” said Dr. Robin Martin-Godelie, Chief of Staff. “You have never stopped providing critical and timely care, despite another year of challenging circumstances. Thank you for your caring, compassion, professionalism, and dedication.”

“I would like to thank every physician for their unwavering service and the personal sacrifices made to provide the highest standards of care to patients and their families,” said Todd Stepanuik, President and Chief Executive Officer. “Day after day, physicians at WHGH and those in the community have continued to answer the call to provide safe, compassionate quality healthcare. We are so appreciative of who they are, and what they do, every single day.”

National Physicians’ Day is also an opportunity to welcome WHGH’s new physicians and to recognize physicians who have retired to thank them for their compassionate care and service to our community.

On May 1, we encourage each and every one of you to take a moment out of your busy day to thank a physician for their selfless devotion to WHGH and patient care.

 About National Physicians’ Day

National Physicians’ Day is celebrated across Ontario each May 1 to recognize the province’s doctors and their commitment to improving the health of all patients. May 1 was chosen to mark the birthday of Dr. Emily Stowe, the first woman to practice medicine in Canada and a founder of the country’s women’s movement.
