Royal Canadian Legion donation helps hospital purchase new trauma stretcher for the Emergency Department

(WHGH) Friday, April 29, 2022- The Royal Canadian Legion, Ontario Provincial Command Branches, and Ladies Auxiliary Charitable Foundation gave a generous $6,000 donation to the West Haldimand Hospital and Healthcare Foundation in support of funding equipment for West Haldimand General Hospital (WHGH).

The donation will help purchase a trauma stretcher for the Emergency Department (ED) at WHGH.

“The West Haldimand Hospital and Healthcare Foundation is extremely grateful for the continued generosity of the Royal Canadian Legion, Ontario Provincial Command Branches, and Ladies Auxiliary Charitable Foundation,” said Lisa Hostein, the Foundation’s Executive Director. “The support of our community groups goes a long way towards helping the Foundation fulfill its mandate to provide funding for equipment at our hospital.”

Jack Esselment, Branch President of the Hagersville Legion Branch 164, says the donation was a result of ongoing contributions received from various Branches through the Ontario Command’s Charitable Foundation.

“The Legion’s priorities are veterans, the widows of veterans, the family of veterans, to ensure the act of remembrance and community,” said Esselment. There is no more important establishment in a local community than a hospital.”

Both the West Haldimand Hospital and Healthcare Foundation and West Haldimand General Hospital sincerely thank the Royal Canadian Legion, Ontario Provincial Command Branches, and Ladies Auxiliary Charitable Foundation for their heartfelt contribution.
