WHGH to receive over $1.2M in infrastructure funding

(Hagersville) – West Haldimand General Hospital (WHGH) will receive $1,272,440 from the Ontario government to complete important infrastructure repairs and upgrades that will help patients continue to receive safe, reliable care close to home.

The one-time funding is being provided through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund for the 2026 to 2027 funding year.

The Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund helps Ontario hospitals repair, replace and modernize aging buildings and essential operating systems. This can include structural, mechanical, electrical and safety improvements needed to keep hospitals operating safely and reliably. For patients and families, this work helps reduce the risk of service disruptions and supports a safe environment for care.

At WHGH, the funding will support several priority infrastructure projects that help keep the hospital safe and reliable. This includes repairs and upgrades to building systems, and other areas that support patient care and daily operations.

The funding will also help replace the hospital’s water main, which supplies water throughout the building. This work will help ensure WHGH has a safe and reliable water supply for patients, staff and hospital services.

Patients and families may not always see this infrastructure work, but they depend on it each time they visit the hospital. Reliable building systems help prevent disruptions and allow care teams to focus on their patients.

The funding is part of the Ontario government’s broader investment of more than $266 million through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund to support hospitals across the province.
