WHGH welcomes Victoria Hanson as Chair of the Board of Directors
West Haldimand General Hospital (WHGH) is pleased to announce the appointment of Victoria Hanson as Chair of the WHGH Board of Directors.
Since joining the Board in June 2022, Ms. Hanson has been a dedicated and valued member of our team. She has served as Treasurer, Chair of the Finance Committee and Chair of the Joint Quality, Patient Safety and Risk Management Committee.
In these roles, Ms. Hanson has helped guide decisions that support safe, high-quality care and the long-term needs of the hospital and community. Her appointment reflects her commitment to WHGH and her belief in the importance of strong local healthcare.
Ms. Hanson is a senior insurance and risk management leader with more than 20 years of experience in the professional claims industry. She currently serves as Director of Sales for a national third-party administrator in Canada. Her work includes corporate risk management, business development, quality control and client advocacy.
Her experience will support the Board as WHGH plans for the future, manages its resources responsibly and responds to the changing healthcare needs of the community.
Ms. Hanson also holds several professional designations, including Canadian Risk Manager and Chartered Insurance Professional. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Western University.
She serves on the Board of the Ontario Risk and Insurance Management Society and will serve as secretary for the 2026–2027 term. She is also a past chair and current council member of the Hamilton-Niagara Chapter of the Insurance Institute of Canada.
“I am pleased to congratulate Victoria and welcome her to her new role as Chair,” said Todd Stepanuik, President and CEO of West Haldimand General Hospital. “Victoria is a highly valued member of the Board and brings extensive experience in governance, risk management and leadership. She understands the important role WHGH plays in our community, and I am confident she will help guide the Board as we plan for the future of local health care.”
“I also want to thank Haley McIntosh for her dedicated leadership and service. Haley has made an important contribution to WHGH, and we are grateful for the time, knowledge and care she has given to our hospital and community.”
Ms. Hanson succeeds Ms. McIntosh, who joined the WHGH Board in 2021. Before becoming Chair in 2022, McIntosh served as Vice Chair and Chair of the Finance Committee. Throughout her time as Chair, she provided thoughtful leadership as WHGH continued to strengthen local services and plan for the future.
As Chair, Ms. Hanson will lead the Board and support WHGH’s strategic priorities. She will work with Board members, hospital leadership, staff, physicians, volunteers and community partners to support strong local health care for patients and families.
“It is an honour to serve as Chair of the West Haldimand General Hospital Board of Directors,” said Ms. Hanson. “WHGH is an important part of this community, and I care deeply about its future. I look forward to working with the Board and hospital leadership to support our teams, strengthen local services and help ensure patients and families can continue to access safe, high-quality care close to home.”
