WHGH invites community to Open House on Pressure Injury Prevention
HAGERSVILLE, ON – When someone you care about is suffering from malnutrition or restricted mobility, it can be hard to keep them comfortable and safe. One of the biggest challenges is preventing pressure injuries, sometimes called bedsores. These injuries can be painful and slow to heal, but many can be avoided with the right support and care.
West Haldimand General Hospital (WHGH) is inviting the community to an open house on Wednesday, November 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to learn more about prevention and how families, caregivers, and healthcare teams can work together to protect community members at home, in hospital, in long-term care or other settings.
The open house will bring together vendors, healthcare partners and members of the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) to share the latest information on prevention and care. Those who attend will be able to ask questions, explore new tools, and take-home practical strategies that can make a real difference in managing their health risks.
“Pressure injuries can affect anyone, whether at home, in hospital, long-term care, or congregate settings,” said Jennifer Edwards, Director of Quality, Clinical Practice and Risk and BPSO Lead at WHGH. “By learning together, we can reduce risks and improve quality of life for the people we care about most.”
The event is part of WHGH’s journey as a Pre-Designate Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO). Through this program, led by RNAO, WHGH is committed to using the best available evidence to improve patient outcomes and deliver safer, higher-quality care.
The open house will take place on the 2nd floor at West Haldimand General Hospital. It is free to attend and open to everyone in the community. Guests are welcome to drop in at any time between 10:00 and 2:00. Free parking will be provided to those who visit the event.
