(Hagersville, ON) – Catch the Ace has once again proven to be a winning hand for local health care, raising more than $62,000 to support patient care at West Haldimand General Hospital (WHGH).
The Catch the Ace fundraiser began on March 18, 2025 and after 22 weeks of draws, the Ace of Spades was claimed by Gary Barber of Peacock Point, who won $41,960. The fundraiser was hosted at the Hagersville Legion Branch 164 and organized by the Hagersville Rocks Community Support Organization, with strong support from volunteers and community partners.
(Congratulations to Gary Barber of Peacock Point, who takes home an incredible $41,960 in winnings.)
“Catch the Ace continues to show the incredible generosity of our community,” said Lisa Hostein, Foundation Executive Director. “I want to sincerely thank the Hagersville Rocks Community Support Organization, the Hagersville Legion Branch 164, and the many volunteers who made this draw possible. To every person who bought a ticket, thank you. Your support has raised more than $62,000 that will directly help patients and families at WHGH. Together, we are ensuring our hospital has the tools and equipment needed to provide outstanding care close to home.”
Catch the Ace has become a vital part of the Foundation’s fundraising efforts. In 2023, the draw raised $1.4 million, the largest single gift in the hospital’s history. That record donation supported several areas of WHGH, including Diagnostic Imaging, the Emergency Department, the Inpatient Unit, Pharmacy, and Laboratory Services.
While the province funds hospital operations and infrastructure, foundations like WHGH’s raise the money needed to purchase new and modern equipment.
“Our partnership with the hospital is built on a shared goal, making sure patients in our community have access to the best care possible,” said Tanya Ribbink, Hagersville Rocks Music Festival Co-Chair. “We are proud to work alongside the Foundation and grateful to everyone who supported Catch the Ace.”
