WHGH to receive over $2.3M in infrastructure funding

(Thursday, December 1, 2022) – The Ontario government has announced that West Haldimand General Hospital (WHGH) will receive $2,374,571 in funding, which includes $2.2-million in one-time funding through the Exceptional Circumstance Project Grant, to support critical infrastructure upgrades and repairs.

This funding is part of the government’s investment of over $182 million provided through the Health Infrastructure Renewal Fund and the Community Infrastructure Renewal Fund to 131 hospitals and 65 community health service providers across the province.

The money is meant to address urgent infrastructure renewal needs, such as upgrades or replacements of roofs, windows, security systems, fire alarms, and backup generators.

At WHGH, the funding will go to various structure improvements and repairs, including a complete replacement of the hospital’s Main Electrical Service/Emergency Power stations, renovating the Emergency Department’s Canopy and general infrastructure upkeep.

“WHGH is very pleased with the funding that has been allocated for infrastructure improvements at WHGH,” says Todd Stepanuik, President & CEO. “With this additional funding, we will be able to move forward with the replacement of equipment that is critical to the plant operations.”

The Ontario government also announced that Norfolk General Hospital (NGH) will receive $2,261,469 in funding, which includes $1.6-million in one-time funding through the Exceptional Circumstance Project Grant, to support critical infrastructure upgrades and repairs.
