(Hagersville) – West Haldimand General Hospital (WHGH) is all smiles after the 2024 Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign raised an amazing $42,618.50 for the West Haldimand Hospital and Healthcare Foundation. Since 2015, the Foundation has received over $200,000 from the Smile Cookie Campaign.
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who bought a Smile Cookie and to all the volunteers who helped make this campaign a success,” said Lisa Hostein, Foundation Executive Director. “This year, we had more volunteers than ever before. A special thank you to Shaun Salverda, the owner of the Jarvis and Hagersville Tim Hortons locations, and his amazing team for their hard work and dedication to supporting WHGH.”
The funds raised will support the highest priority needs at West Haldimand General Hospital, directly benefiting our patients and their families. This vital support ensures that we can continue providing top-quality care, but we need to keep going. Ongoing community contributions are essential to maintain and enhance our services.
Earlier this month, Tim Hortons announced that $18.8 million was raised nationally through Smile Cookie sales, supporting over 600 charities and community groups across Canada and the United States.
“This year’s success wouldn’t have been possible without every Tim Hortons team member, customer, and volunteer who took part,” said Shaun Salverda, owner of the Jarvis and Hagersville Tim Hortons restaurants. “On behalf of the Jarvis and Hagersville Tim Hortons locations, thank you to everyone who bought a Smile Cookie. We are proud to know our campaign will help improve healthcare for people across Haldimand County.”
Tim Hortons in Hagersville and Jarvis, along with the West Haldimand Hospital and Healthcare Foundation, sincerely thank the community for their support in raising these funds for WHGH.
While the province provides funds for hospital operations at WHGH, community support is vital for purchasing hospital equipment.
Anyone looking to help the hospital can donate by visiting www.whgh.ca or by contacting foundation@whgh.ca.
The first-ever Smile Cookie campaign in 1996 raised funds to support Hamilton Children’s Hospital. Since then, the annual charitable campaign has raised more than $129 million for charities and community groups, which are selected every year by Tim Hortons restaurant owners. Recipients include local hospitals, community care organizations, food banks, and schools.
