Visiting Hours

At West Haldimand General Hospital, general visiting hours are from noon to 8:00 pm.
Visitors are limited to two/patient at a time.

Visiting hours are extended for the Long Term Care patients from 11:30 am to 8:00 pm.

In the Emergency Department, only one visitor is allowed into the treatment room with the patient.

With paediatric patients, both parents are permitted to stay with the child.

Parents are encouraged to stay with their hospitalized child. Having one parent (or family member) stay with the child will ease the stress of his/her hospitalization and insure that someone is available to comfort him/her without delay.

For Infection prevention and control reasons, all visitors are asked to wash their hands upon arrival at the hospital and after visiting a patient.

During flu season, we request that you do not visit our patients if you are suffering from any flu-like symptoms.

Visitors to the Special Care Unit of West Haldimand General Hospital are limited to immediate adult family only for short periods. Please inquire at nurses’ station before visiting.

No gift baskets or flowers are permitted into the unit.

Please be considerate of the needs of our patients. Please limit visitors and leave if the patient is tired. West Haldimand General Hospital recognizes that family contribute to the positive patient experience, but we must all do our part ensure the patient's needs are met, including rest.

Visiting hours are unlimited for patients who are deemed palliative or critically ill. A family member may wish to stay at night with the patient. If so, please ask the nursing staff about sleeping arrangements. We will try to make your stay as comfortable as possible, but not all needs may be met.

Note: Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

If entering or leaving the hospital after regular visiting hours, please use to the Emergency door.
