Influenza A Outbreak declared at West Haldimand General Hospital’s Inpatient Unit

(Wednesday, November 23, 2022) – West Haldimand General Hospital (WHGH), in consultation with the Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit, have declared an outbreak of influenza A on the Inpatient Unit (IPU). As a result, the IPU is closed to visitors to assist in the reduction of transmission to patients and staff.

To ensure patients have the support they need, we encourage families and friends to consult with the patient care team to see how we can help facilitate methods of visiting.  

We understand it is difficult for families and friends to be separated from their loved ones during this period. We encourage people to use technology to connect with our patients.

WHGH is monitoring the situation, and outbreak measures have been implemented.

Please limit the transition of any illnesses (colds, influenza COVID, or other illnesses)

A reminder to our community to help stop the spread of any infectious diseases during cold and flu season. Please wash your hands well and often and consider staying home or wearing a mask if you’re feeling unwell.
